Twitter in education

Shawn over at Anecdote has a very good description of how he has been using twitter in these first few days (not that he wrote the description specifically about my use of twitter):
_____________________________________________________________
It’s a mistake to think Twitter is only for reporting the minute detail of one’s life, which by the way is an important activity because it helps up create stronger social bonds. Twitter is also effective for asking questions and getting answers, sharing useful links on the web and getting those frustrations out when things are driving you nuts.
_____________________________________________________________

I do use Twitter two months ago I did not have experiences one for online chat sessions among a lof of people I never talked to them before, and that is essentially what that event was, or what it seemed like to me. Not quite as synchronous as an actual chat, but it is not as asynchronous as an e-mail. i do not use Twitter very often but i think it will be a great tool for education.

Twitter in education

Can Twitter use in education system?

I think Twitter is open software. it has some problems with it. does Twitter design just like Ning.com. It will be better to teachers. As i know, pulic software does not easy control by teachers. Teachers does not know their students who are using it for school lesson.

i prefer to use Ning becuase Ning is like LMS. teachers can control their access. peers in the same classroom can be working together. students will get information from their peers in classroom without outsite junky information.

Big Dog, Little Dog: Flipping Kirkpatrick

The great post by Clark

Big Dog, Little Dog: Flipping Kirkpatrick

Informal learning

Is public software helping such as Linkdin,del.icio.us to our learners? Some critical thinking we should notice about it.

1. Is really helping our kids? will they get wrong information?

2. informal learning vs formal learning

3. if public software is part of our teaching materials , How do teachers tell their students to use it. it will have problmes with freedom issue.

Those problems have been discussion for a while when you use pulic software in your classroom. you may set up those pulic software very careful for them. Otherwise, it will be just waste time it. i mean "very careful" which measn students may use public software to cheat or to do something we do not know. Internet is very popular now. a lot of crimes can learn via internet.

do you have any different views?

eLearning tool: eLearning technology

I have seen a lot of eLearning sites such as faceook, Linkdin, etc.....

some people ask that there is no one to ask math ,science, and chemenstry questions in the Linkdin because Linkdin does not provide equation editor and chemdrawer via web application. if you need to ask those questions, you need to find equations by your own and you can ask questions.

I am happy about it. We found equation editor which create by codecoge and we design our own chemdrawer. It was hard time for us. we keep finding web application for those editors but it is not easy to find it. most of editors are windows application. if you need to ask those questions and somebody will ask it for you.

you may come to our site to ask. we start it next week before students back to school. www.igoabroad.com
